Cover of The Confessions of Joseph Blanchard

The Confessions of Joseph Blanchard opens with a mystery – the identity of the author of a manuscript found within the papers of a woman recently deceased. Initially thought to be a novel, further investigation by her nephew reveals that the characters were all people known to the woman – people she had met, worked with, or was familiar with.

And so begins the story – one mystery giving rise to another. Who is Joseph Blanchard? What caused Joseph’s parents to withdraw from each other and from Joseph after he suffered a serious childhood illness? Why does Joseph, a smart and capable man, isolate himself from meaningful interaction with people?

The power and danger of secrets is pivotal to Joseph's story. Secrets can control you. Secrets can also set you free. But when they are family secrets, they can destroy even the best of intentions.
